Viaje Astral

Viaje Astral

In 2023 Patsy Craig was the beneficiary of a grant from the Ministry of Culture in Peru to initiate a park now known as Ñawpa Pacha Kawsay Ninchik- which in the native Quechua language means may the past live on- at the Escuela Primaria de Simatauca in the Cusco region of the southern Peruvian Andes.Viaje Astral is a sculptural installation or "water mirror" created to provide a ceremonial space which pays homage to Andean culture initiating the parkThrough interaction with this installation, we aim to engender in the hearts and minds of children and the surrounding community a contemplative connection with the ancestors. Within this framework we intend to explore ideas about the sacred, about nature, and about ancestral culture - how it influences us in practical contemporary life and how it supports us spiritually - in short, how each of us interprets and puts into practice the Andean philosophies.
