Viaje Astral

In 2023 Patsy Craig was the beneficiary of a grant from the Ministry of Culture in Peru to initiate a park now known as Ñawpa Pacha Kawsay Ninchik- which in the native Quechua language means may the past live on- at the Escuela Primaria de Simatauca in the Cusco region of the southern Peruvian Andes.Viaje Astral is a sculptural installation or "water mirror" created to provide a ceremonial space which pays homage to our Andean culture initiating the parkThrough interaction with this installation, we aim to engender in the hearts and minds of children and the surrounding community a contemplative connection with the ancestors. Within this framework we intend to explore ideas about the sacred, about nature, and about ancestral culture - how it influences us in practical contemporary life and how it supports us spiritually - in short, how each of us interprets and puts into practice the Andean philosophies.
